๐ก About Bing Search Results
Bing is Microsoft's search engine and powers search results across Bing.com, Microsoft Edge, Cortana, Yahoo Search (via syndication), and increasingly, Microsoft Copilot. Optimising for Bing can meaningfully expand your reach โ particularly among enterprise and Windows users.
Bing reads standard HTML meta tags (title, description), OpenGraph tags, and schema.org structured data, much like Google. However, Bing has slightly different truncation limits and rendering behaviour:
- Title tag: Bing typically shows up to 65 characters before truncating
- Meta description: Bing shows approximately 145 characters on desktop โ slightly shorter than Google
- Bing gives stronger weight to exact-match keywords in title tags and URLs than Google does
- Use Bing Webmaster Tools at bing.com/webmasters to submit sitemaps and monitor indexing
- Bing supports rich results via schema.org โ review, product, recipe, event and more
- Bing respects the
robots.txtBingbot directive and theX-Robots-TagHTTP header - Pages with HTTPS and fast load times are strongly preferred in Bing ranking signals
