How to Use the YouTube Video Preview Tool

1

Choose Your Preview Mode

Switch between Grid Card (how your video looks on the YouTube homepage or search results) and Watch Page (the full player + metadata layout).

2

Enter Your Video Title

Type your video title and watch the character counter. YouTube shows roughly 60-70 characters before truncating, so this helps you write click-worthy titles that don't get cut off.

3

Upload Your Thumbnail

Upload your 1280ร—720px thumbnail image. It renders in both the grid card and watch page views so you can check it looks compelling in both contexts.

4

Set Channel Details

Enter your channel name, subscriber count, and whether your channel is verified. These populate both preview modes accurately.

5

Adjust Views, Likes & Duration

Set the video duration (appears on thumbnail corner), view count, and like count using sliders and text fields to complete the realistic mock-up.

About This Tool

The YouTube Video Preview Tool helps creators, marketers, and editors see exactly how a video listing will appear on YouTube โ€” before uploading. Both the grid card (homepage/search) and full watch page layouts are simulated.

Your thumbnail and title are among the most critical factors in a video's click-through rate. Testing different combinations before publishing gives you a significant advantage. You can also use this tool to present video concepts and planned thumbnails to clients for approval.
